  • Residual materials (steel, aluminium, and stainless steel) are collected separately and reused.
  • This also applies to paper, cardboard, and plastic waste;
  • The packaging materials used are largely deposit-based and/or reusable;
  • Minimization of transport distances by working with an external distribution specialist;
  • All lighting in the factory is equipped with energy-saving reflectors;
  • Excess heat from production processes is recovered and reused;
  • Through intelligent control systems and leakage monitoring, the energy consumption of the compressed air compressors is minimized;
  • From a carbon footprint perspective, powder coating is the most sustainable alternative for finishing metal surfaces.
  • The recovery system of the powder coating line enables up to 90% reuse of powder;
  • Thanks to a well-designed cascade system, the discharge of process water from the powder coating line is kept to a minimum.

Metal scrap

Old metal, new value — that’s scrap at Helden van Staal. We process metal waste such as steel, aluminium, and copper into high-grade raw materials for new applications. Through smart separation and reuse, this saves up to 95% energy and 90% CO₂ emissions compared to production using virgin materials. Scrap loses none of its quality and fits perfectly into our circular approach. With modern technologies, we recycle efficiently, cleanly, and responsibly, reducing waste, preserving resources, and building a more sustainable future, together with our clients.

Returnable Pallets and Cardboard

At Helden van Staal, we actively reuse pallets and cardboard packaging wherever possible. By returning and recycling these materials within our logistics chain, we reduce waste, lower costs, and minimize our environmental footprint — all while supporting a more circular approach to packaging and transport.

Our return pallets are reused in our logistics processes, which not only saves costs but also reduces environmental impact. Cardboard is separated and recycled, allowing it to be processed into new materials again.

Through this closed material flow, we close the loop and ensure the efficient use of resources. Together with our partners and clients, we create a positive impact on the environment.
